Get to Know Dr. Provencher

Dr. Lorraine (Lori) M. Provencher, M.D. is board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma. Dr. Provencher graduated summa cum laude from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then went on to receive a Medical Doctorate from the Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed ophthalmology residency at the top-ranked University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics followed by a glaucoma and complex anterior segment fellowship at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Provencher is a volunteer Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati, and enjoys teaching medical student, residents, and fellows. She is the Senior Social Media Editor for the journal Ophthalmology, past Chief Medical Editor for EyeRounds.org, and is a volunteer for Orbis International and Cybersight.org. Dr. Provencher is actively involved in Women in Ophthalmology and is the founding co-chair of Women in Glaucoma, a subset of the American Glaucoma Society. She also directs and hosts the CVP Doc-2-Doc podcast, an educational series for doctors across the CVP network. Dr.Provencher has published many peer-reviewed journal articles and is a busy speaker and author.

Outside of ophthalmology, Dr. Provencher enjoys spending time with her family, doing Pilates, playing piano, and traveling.
