Get to Know Dr. Bergmann

Mark T. Bergmann, M.D. is a Cincinnati native and a third-generation eye doctor in his family. He is a graduate of the Wright State School of Medicine, received his Ophthalmology training at the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo, and completed 2 Fellowships. He completed his Cataract Fellowship at Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine and a Cornea and External Eye Disease Fellowship at Kresge Eye Institute, Wayne State College of Medicine.

Dr. Bergmann and his optometrist father went on several VOSH International Eye Missions to Comayagua, Honduras. They and their Cincinnati nursing staff joined a Lions Eye Group from Fort Wayne. Dr. Mark Bergmann was able to provide cataract surgery and even one of the first corneal transplants performed in Honduras. This eye mission continues on as a popular part of the University of Cincinnati Residency Program.

Dr. Bergmann has been involved in 34 clinical research eye drop studies including dry eye, blepharitis, glaucoma, ptosis, and cataract surgery. Many of these studies helped get several eye drops FDA approved. He also was either an author or co-author on several published papers. He has been a speaker to optometric groups in the Caribbean and in Cincinnati.

Dr. Bergmann and his wife Rebecca enjoy family, travel, the beach and walking their dog Cooper.
